Faith Tong (Week 4)- Music is super cool :D
Music is super cool :D

Unfortunately, I have run out of brain cells to think about how language and power relate. So guess what? I decided to ask my mom for help! She explained to me that language can be expressed through music, where through your music you can communicate your emotions and connect with people. So I guess this is going to be what my blog is about for today! I have realized my biggest mistake is not asking my mom to help me on blog posts...
Not going to lie, I kind of expected my mom to relate language's power with music already. To give you some background information, my mom has always been interested in music since she was young. She started learning piano at only 3 years old (I know, shocking) and basically plays till this day. In addition, she loves singing so I guess that's why music was such an easy topic for her to relate to.
Anyways, back to how language can be expressed through music. According to my lovely mother, when you combine language and music, you get songs! Songs can convey meaning such as an individual's own personal experience, their emotions, and etc. Many of the songs we listen to today, ranging from pop, chill, rock, and numerous more genres all convey emotions such as happiness, love, sadness, desperation, heartbreak, and all that jazz!
So how is language in music form powerful? The messages and emotions conveyed through songs can allow people to relate to songs and connect with not only artists but also people with similar music tastes to them. In addition, music is a way for people to cope with life or problems in general. Listening to music can bring comfort and elevate one's emotions. Lastly, music comes in multiple languages as well, which helps us learn about different cultures' music.
Honestly, props all to my mom for her amazing idea (big dub for her)! So my question for you is: How has music impacted you? Also what kind of music do you guys like?
